Events

Looking back on some of the photos, we could have been in the 18 arrondisment of Paris. Red lights, un cafè, that bohemian air, live music, wine – and a feeling like we’d all sang, danced and wined together for years.  Welcome to Open Studio, 204 High St, Northcote and a little gem of a performance, El Boliche de Simón.  (Starts 8:30pm, every Wednesday in August, be early to grab a table).

I won’t say much more: Simón (accompanied by his feisty trio) sings the classics, the crowd joins in, the local tangueros improvise on the tiny dancefloor, Simón makes us laugh, and everyone has a jolly good time.

P.S. You CAN tear yourself away from the heater! They serve mulled wine, coffee and sizzling crêpes to boot.  I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking.

Thank you for coming down and your support of this event, it has surpassed our expectations and will be bringing it back later in the year. Keep up the beautiful work. Will send something from Buenos Aires.

Awesome!! We miss you already Simon! A notable absence but we hope you’re having a fabulous time. I’ll be very interested to hear about your research on Queer Tango.
